Spritz in Barcelona

We proudly announce you that sprizz arrived in Barcelona. You can drink it at Spritz Bar, just a few steps from the Cathedral! Here we could allay our withdrawal symptoms, since it was a couple of days we didn't have our favourite aperitif. The interesting thing was that it was not only people from Veneto (students, tourists, etc.) to drink spritz, but also Spanish (obviously) and German. Sprizz we had was very good, prepared following classic formula, with bottled wine, orange and olive, in substantially correct proportions and large doses. Neither it was so expensive: just 3,5 €.
Unfortunately we have no other good news to tell you about alcoholic beverages in Barcelona: there is sangria, sure, but for examples every time we had a beer we had the sensation it was extended with water! For this reason our advice is to have only bottled beers. Some good spanish label are San Miguel (moreover the strong lager "Selecta") and Estrella. Other tipically "latin" beers are Desperados and Estribos, both flavoured with Tequila.
If you lodge in the gothic quarter (Barrio gotico), nice places where you can have your drinks are, for instance, Travel bar (it is always crowded of foreigners and closes very late), Cheers, My Bar, Molly's Fair City and Temple Bar.
These pubs are furnished in the tipical English/Irish pub style; if you want to try something different we suggest you London bar, which instead is furnished in pure modernist style. Once inside, have a shot of Flaming! The flaming they prepare is made up of Kahalua, Baileys and Albertson (the latter in place of Sambuca and Curacao)!
Anything else? You cannot miss to drink slowly your half-liter sangria on the ramblas.

Hola a todas y todos!

ADDENDUM; FEBRUARY 2010. In Barcelona you can drink sprizz also at Cin Cin (Carrer Ample, 54). Since we fail to visit this place, nothing we can say about its spritz. We apologize for this "lack of information" and we promise you to tell you more in the next future. For further information see www.spritz.es.
